Overview
i Mid-season British apples are coming into their own right now. Particularly tasty ones to look out for include the Keswick Codlin and Rev W Wilks (both cookers), as well as Worcester Pearmain, James Grieve, St Edmunds Pippin i If you want to store apples, choose fi rm-fl eshed, mid- or late-season varieties. Cox's Orange Pippins and Bramleys both store well. Wrap each apple individually in newspaper (the old adage that one bad apple rots the whole barrel is one that's rooted in fact) and store in a cool, dry place, such as a garden shed. They should keep well for up to three months or more.
