9 a.m. Troy - The Rev. Al Bastin's message for around 50 people who gathered at the First United Church of Christ was of peace, forgiveness and hope. His wife, the Rev. Carol Bastin, lit three candles on the altar. 9:10 a.m . Cleveland - Tim Hagan, the Democratic candidate for governor, spoke at the opening ceremonies of the Ohio AFL-CIO 23rd Biennial Convention. Hagan spoke of Larry Beck, the brother of his wife's brother-in-law. 10 a.m. Beavercreek - At Fairbrook Elementary School, 11-year- old Alex Foster had a special hero in mind when he joined a student assembly. \"I'm proud of my dad. He's a firefighter,\" Foster said. \"He'd run right into a burning building to save someone.\"
