Overview
Contests for village president could be forthcoming in Grafton and Slinger, and for sure, there will be a heated rematch for town chairman in Grafton. In Grafton, Richard R. Berger said Wednesday he planned to run against Village President Rick Leach. Berger has yet to submit his nominating papers to the village clerk. Berger, 41, is a wide area network project manager for Metavante Corp., Marshall & Ilsley Corp.'s data services subsidiary. He manages engineering projects for banks throughout the United States. In the Town of Grafton, Lester Bartel Jr. will again oppose Town Chairman Neal Rosenberg. Rosenberg defeated Bartel, then the five- term town chairman, by 64 votes in April 1999.
