Overview
WORCESTER - Researchers at Fallon Healthcare System and the Harvard University School of Public Health have received a $3 million grant to study the occupational and genetic causes of asthma. Dr. Donald K. Milton, a Fallon Clinic consultant and associate professor of occupational and environmental health at Harvard, and Dr. Richard A. Rosiello, a Fallon pulmonary physician, are the study's lead scientists. Fallon spokesman David P. Kowal, of Kowal Communications Inc., said Fallon's computer system will be used to identify asthma patients as soon as possible after they are diagnosed with the disease. The asthma patients then will be contacted and offered the opportunity to participate in the study.
