Making contacts goes hand-in-hand with raising money, Mr. [Ronald R. Morse] said. Several times a year -- \"I call it my begging day,\" Mr. Morse said with a chuckle -- shelter personnel visit area Wal-Marts and distribute a wish list of items the shelter could use, such as paper towels and trash bags. Other times, dogs must be relinquished because they do not fit into the owner's lifestyle, Mr. Morse said. A cute puppy often grows into a large dog that requires more room and time than a busy person can provide, Mr. Morse said.
