Overview
Mary Beth Brown e-mailed: \"In one of the last episodes of 'The Sopranos,' Carmela tries to entice her son with Lincoln Logs. From a distance, it looked as if it had something to do with hot dogs on a large sub bun, but beyond that, I couldn't figure it out. Do you have any information on this?\" I posted Brown's request to my blog and got this reply: \"After watching the 'Sopranos' episode when Anthony Jr. tries to drown himself in the pool, I saw this odd food that was called a Lincoln Log Sandwich. As a guy who knows a thing or two about lunch meat and sandwiches, I was stumped when my wife asked what that was. Here's what we found. Preheat oven to 400 or 425 F. Start with a 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk. It must be sweetened, or it won't caramelize. Pour it into a 9-inch glass pie plate and cover tightly with foil. (Some recipes suggest adding a small pinch of sea salt.) Place pie plate in another, larger pan (a roasting pan will work) and add hot water to the outer pan until it comes halfway up the sides of the pie plate.
