Overview
What really defines his style is that he brings a sense of architecture to his projects. \"I like the lines to flow. I like lines in motion, proportion and symmetry,\" he says. For one client's 1950s-style breakfast nook, [MARIA LYLE Gregory Creech] designed a built-in banquette. \"It's the idea of a booth but really only one side of it,\" Creech says, explaining that the banquette is 5 feet tall and more than 6 feet long to accommodate the client's tall husband. For the other side of the long, thin, oval table, he designed a bench with an oval back. He upholstered the rectangular seats of the bench and banquette in metallic-finished Naugahyde, and wrapped the backs in a woven textile patterned in geometric shapes that complements the shapes of the furniture. The 4-foot-long bench stands about 3 feet tall. The furniture was designed in the kitchen's 1950s-diner style, complete with terrazzo floors.
