Overview
Information provided by Work and Income shows that 4484 workers were subsidised between 1998 and 2006 in the [Nelson] region, and 373 began being subsidised between July 1, 2005 and June 25, 2006 through its Jobs Plus scheme. Nalder Protective Clothing is one Nelson business which has employed someone through the scheme, and co-owner Kay Morris said it was so worthwhile, the business was shortly to employ a second person. Debbie Stevens was employed by the company a year ago, and Nalder Protective Clothing received about 50 percent of her wage from Work and Income for the part-time work.
