Overview
The 14-year-old heard rumors about problems in the Police Department, and she said a Kinloch officer had once tried to flirt with her in the police station. Her mother told her never to return. On Friday, St. Louis County police arrested a Kinloch officer on a rape charge - his second sex-crime charge - and accused Kinloch Police Chief Cordell Edwards of ignoring the rape allegations. Authorities say the rape suspect and two other officers were not certified to be police officers. County police began providing police services Friday in Kinloch, and Leia was among many Kinloch residents who stopped to gawk Friday afternoon at the county police cars surrounding the city hall.
