Overview
Daniel Potter put up with his wife's unusual hobby of breeding rodents by the hundreds. But when their marriage went sour a month ago and she moved out, there was nobody to tend to the critters. That's when things started to stink. Feces piled up in the 130 cages, and breathing the ammonia from the urine gave Daniel Potter an upper respiratory infection. On Friday, Potter called Loudoun County animal control officers, who confiscated the 1,500 rats and mice - as well as eight rabbits, eight snakes, two prairie dogs and a hedgehog.
