Overview
Through the work-study program at ECC, [Jennifer Massano] has gained valuable experience. During the week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Massano executes several responsibilities including cutting and working on projects, maintaining and monitoring the lab and equipment for students, and assisting the program's instructors. So far, Massano said the experience is paying off. Her kids love the fact that their mother does something different. When she's not welding T-joints, running saws, drills and sheers, Massano spends as much time as she can with her sons, Vincent and Zachary. Elgin resident Jennifer Massano, 26, is studying to be a welder at Elgin Community College's Advanced Technology Center. The school offers a welding technology program with several certifications.
