Overview
Hallifax is celebrating its 50th anniversary having grown out of another company, H. G. Roberts. In the early 1970s [Rick Hallifax]'s father, [Peter Hallifax], changed the company's focus on anti-rust and lubricating fluids into the new market of souvenirs. Lanolin is derived from sheep wool, and that business was partly inspired by the family of Rick's mother, Helen Johnstone, coming from the Erewhon sheep station near the headwaters of the Rangitata.
