[Jonathan Cock], a former airman, turned up at the family's home in the hamlet of Porth Kea, near Truro, Cornwall, with a self-loading .22 rifle and 15 bullets after pleading with Miss Hustler to meet him. After shooting her parents, he fired at Miss Hustler through a window as she called police, but she escaped with a minor wound to her arm. She told the operator: \"I think my dad has been shot. Is the ambulance on its way? My mum really needs help. She is on her back. There is a man with a gun. He is my ex-boyfriend. He is trying to kill us. I broke up with him. He doesn't like my family.\" Before the shooting, Cock had warned Miss Hustler to choose between \"the easy way and the hard way\". Afterwards he texted her to say: \"I can't believe you chose the hard option.\" Cock met Miss Hustler when they worked for her father's drain clearing business. At first she kept their relationship secret because he was not a baptised Jehovah's Witness. The rules of the faith prohibited any relationship with non believers and Cock was later converted, the court heard.
