Overview
Douglas Massano, 18, was found behind the science building of Rio Rancho High School on May 23 by a teacher, police said. The teacher said Massano was \"digging out a plant\" and attempted to hide underneath it when noticed, police said. Massano told the teacher he was digging up a marijuana plant in order to turn it over to the state, police said. Massano then told the assistant principal he was \"getting rid of the school marijuana problem,\" police said. The assistant principal also said Massano had a \"razor blade scraper.\" After being handcuffed, Massano \"blurted\" out his explanation, police said. Massano said he was informed by current students at the high school of a marijuana plant growing in the school landscaping, police said. Massano said he was going to dig it up and turn it over to the authorities.
