Overview
The painting by Tom Hallifax was handed over to Mr [Sammy Wilson] and present post-holder Jim Rodgers at a ceremony in the Lord Mayor's parlour prior to it being installed outside the council chamber. A clearly delighted Mr Wilson said: \"Tom Hallifax is one of the up- and-coming portrait artists of our time and I was extremely pleased he was commissioned for the painting. One of his best-known portraits, a private commission for the Prince of Wales, is of the late Derek Hill, whose own portrait of another former Lord Mayor of Belfast, Alban Maginness, is on loan to the Ulster Museum for an exhibition opening on December 6.
