Overview
Annick Marchand, the Quebec City Carnaval director of marketing, apologized for any offence caused by an ice sculpture depicting a Ukrainian Shylock at Christmas. The image presented a stereotype of ages gone by when thousands upon thousands of Jews were killed by Ukrainians and other Europeans. For centuries, Ukraine was well known for the murder of Jews by intoxicated mobs.
