Overview
Last August, [Joe Manchin] said he'd personally hand deliver an invitation to the world's greatest golfer if that's what it took to bring [Tiger Woods] to the Mountain State for the inaugural Greenbrier Classic, slated for this summer. The tournament will be played as part of the FedEx Cup from July 26 to Aug. 1 on the Old White Course at White Sulphur Spring, site of the historic Greenbrier Hotel & Resort. At the August press conference announcing the Greenbrier Classic, legendary golfer Tom Watson said he'd 'be surprised if he (Woods) doesn't play here.' Woods' endorsement deals have also taken a hit. Gillette suspended advertising featuring the golfer and management consultancy firm Accenture completely severed its ties with Woods. Most recently, AT&T ended its sponsorship of Woods.
