Overview
A key part of the \"Golden Girls\" backstory is that, before coming to live with Dorothy, Blanche and Rose, Sophia suffered a stroke, damaging the part of her brain that acts as a censor. This tragic disability is, ironically, what makes Sophia so very appealing. Unlike the rest of us, Sophia wasn't always needing to edit her own thoughts. She could point out the obvious, be it Rose's absent-mindedness or Blanche's promiscuity, without eliciting hard feelings. After all, she couldn't help it.
