Overview
[Margaret Leighton] had planned the garden since last November with the help of school administration. With school starting only a few days ago, and extracurricular programs getting under way, she was a little surprised at the number of students who came out to help with the harvest. Especially because it was hard to generate interest in the garden at first. The staff and students are applying for a grant to help with the project and have been working with Evergreen.com, an Internet Web site that shows urban schools how to beautify their land. Jacquie Ackerman, who teaches drama and choir at Holy Cross, said the project will likely take two or three years to complete.
