Overview
After a few albums of dissonant fuzz and noise experiment alism, New York art-rockers Sonic Youth finally found melody on Daydream Nation. Mind you, there's still enough swirling guitar feedback here to daunt the first-time listener. Regarded by many as a sonorous masterpiece, this Daydream is the empassioned cry of a band driving a stake through the bloated belly of punk rock. Just because we watch their show doesn't mean we don't secretly want to bash 'em (Ashton Kutcher anyone?). Which is why it's so super that this MTV premiere is exactly what it sounds like - a chance to pay out on its host. Carson Daly is US MTV's most famous VJ and in tonight's show, stars Madonna, Britney Spears, P.Diddy, Justin Timberlake, Kid Rock and Papa Roach get together to pay their disrespects. Even his ex-girlfriends were invited. Tara Reid couldn't make it but Jennifer Love Hewitt did and ribs the roastee by reading out a love letter he once wrote her. 1 1940 Pulitzer PriZ.
