Thursday, March 15 GALLAGHER -- Thomas F. Gallagher Jr., 77, of Stony Brook, N.Y., died Dec. 30, 2006, in Summerville, S.C. He was the father of Mercedes Gallagher of Becket. Born at home in Manhattan on Aug. 24, 1929, son of Thomas F. Gallagher and Mercedes Wright Gallagher, he lived in Jackson Heights, N.Y. He graduated from Xavier High School in Manhattan, and from Holy Cross College with a bachelor's degree in philosophy in 1953. He served as a commissioned officer in the Navy until 1956. He worked at his father's business, Astoria Tire Co. in Queens, before starting his own concrete company in 1962, Gallagher Service Corp. (well-known by the green shamrocks on the concrete trucks).
