Overview
BUDDY, THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY --If only this were a greatest hits concert of the pop legend. Because when the music's playing, this show rocks most of the time. But when the music dies, which is often, the audience must weather a script so lame that only superb actors could have risen above this comic-book bio, and this production has been cast for musicianship. John Mueller has Holly's nerdy look down to a T-bird; he reincarnates Holly's quirky vocal style, and those rippling guitar riffs cannot be faked. Although he doesn't always deliver Holly's boyish charisma, Mueller leads a talented band through one of the most infectiously entertaining catalogs in rock 'n' roll. Folks will be dancing in the aisles. Through Jan. 2 at Actors' Playhouse, Coral Gables. -- B.H.
