Overview
Board Chairman Colin Snyder, of East Penn School District, considered doing away with the closed sessions following complaints by The Morning Call that the practice may have been in violation of Pennsylvania's Sunshine Law. [Thomas Traud], solicitor for the 21-member joint operating committee, said it is his position the once-a-year announcement made the executive sessions comply with the Sunshine Law. Vo-tech executive director Joseph Rothdeutsch said the board had been holding pre-meeting executive sessions every meeting since the vo-tech opened in 1971. He said conversation was limited following the passage in 1986 of the Open Meeting Act or Sunshine Law.
