Overview
Democratic challenger Joe Kohn's campaign took on an international flair yesterday as he denounced state Attorney General Ernie Preate for sending a state employee to France as a liaison between his office and Interpol. Kohn used Gallagher, who gave nearly $6,000 to Preate's election campaign in 1988, as an example of a questionable assignment for an employee who contributed to Preate's campaign. Kohn, citing campaign expense reports, said Preate received nearly $15,000 from attorney general employees. As part of his `Clean Government Initiative,' Kohn supports prohibiting state government officials from soliciting or accepting campaign contributions from their employees. Kohn said he also supports pending legislation that would set campaign contribution limits on political action committees.
