Overview
The family of Patsy Byers, who was shot and later died of cancer, says [Oliver Stone]'s film triggered the attack on the Ponchatoula, La., convenience store clerk in 1995. The previous day, Hernando businessman William Savage was shot and killed at Producers Gin, west of Hernando. The lawsuit seeks damages from Stone and movie distributor Time Warner. Byers and Savage were shot by Sarah Edmondson, then 18, and her boyfriend, Benjamin Darras, who are now in prison for the shootings. Edmondson has said she and Darras had watched Stone's movie about a young couple who commit a series of murders.
