Overview
Earlier this week, [Sam Judd] was on her knees, brushing damp sand from the sun-warmed surface of a newly laid section of concrete walkway at Wesley Meadows Retirement Community in Hernando. Judd, 15, was one of about a dozen Methodist youth and youth leaders who gave their time this week working at the facility as part of MYHOP - Methodist Youth Helping Other People - a yearly mission project coordinated by the Senatobia United Methodist Church. In her third summer working with MYHOP, Judd, a member of Fulton United Methodist Church, said she's accustomed to working with the elderly and is familiar with Wesley Meadows. Last summer, her group was assigned to the center, and though rain hampered their plans for outdoor work, she said she enjoyed getting to know the residents.
