Overview
The Palm Beach Police Department confirmed today that cocaine had been recovered from Mr. Kennedy's room, along with what was described as a ''small bottle of a prescribed medication.'' The medication was undergoing tests. On Thursday, Jay Pintacuda, a chemist with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Department, told reporters that about 1.3 grams of ''high purity'' cocaine had been removed from the hotel room where Mr. Kennedy was found dead Wednesday. The service was performed by new Boston Archbishop, Bernard F. Law, and the Rev. John F. Fitzgerald, a Kennedy cousin. Their words could not be heard by spectators, who were kept some 250 yards away, but the archdiocese furnished a partial text, and the Archbishop told the mourners: ''Let us pray for our brother to our Lord Jesus Christ who said, 'I am the resurrection and the light. The man who believes in me will live even if he dies and every living person who puts his faith in me will never suffer eternal death,' ''
