Overview
Snow Babies, Snowbunnies and Snow Villages just aren't flying off the shelves as they once did. Even the king of collectibles, the Franklin Mint, is struggling, with plans to lay off 200 workers as part of a restructuring. The company has previously marketed its collectibles and giftware through department stores and gift shops, but its new line of moderately priced collectibles called Simple Traditions will be sold by non-gift-oriented retailers such as Menards, Kohl's and Linens 'N Things.
