The special publications prize was awarded to Joseph Belth, who, as \"a one-man operation\" producing a four-page monthly newsletter, The Insurance Forum, \"keeps a watchful eye on deceptive sales practices, corporate operations and consumer interests\" in the insurance business. \"Intent on reform and informing those in decision-making positions,\" the panel said, \"Mr. Belth carries on despite the continuing hostility of many in the industry.\" In broadcasting, \"South Africa Now,\" produced by Globalvision, received a special award for \"first-hand accounts of the country's turbulence and its violent treatment of its black majority\" amid strict censorship.
