Overview
Several months (and dates with Mr. [Anthony Shorris]) later, Ms. [Maria Laurino], now 34, left The Voice to become the chief speech writer for Mayor David N. Dinkins, a job she will hold until he leaves office at the end of the month. Both she and Mr. Shorris, now the first deputy executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, described themselves as \"city junkies.\" They look forward to watching unedited mayoral press conferences on WNYC-TV the way other couples look forward to watching \"Seinfeld.\" In fact, their personal lives are so closely tied to city politics that their wedding date was largely determined by voters in the last election. They had planned to marry in front of Mayor Dinkins in June 1994, but when he lost the race they moved the date up to Dec. 11.
