Overview
Black and white portraiture dominates ''Island to Island: Inspired Portraits,'' the Hillwood Art Museum's major fall show. Of the 50 works by eight artists on view, perhaps a dozen are color, with the rest black and white. It is worth mentioning that ''Island to Island'' is part of a wider collaboration between the C. W. Post Campus of Long Island University and the Julia Margaret Cameron Trust Dimbola Lodge Museum on the Isle of Wight in Britain -- hence the title. Earlier this year the exhibition was presented on the Isle of Wight, and a future show will bring the work of photographers of the Dimbola Lodge Photographic Forum to Long Island. ELEMENTAL IMAGES: Above, ''Nogales'' (2003), by [Susan Kravitz]; left, ''Water'' (2003), [AnnMarie Tornabene]; at right, ''Chloe With Miss Kitty'' (1998), [Joan Harrison]; below, ''Soldier, Beijing, China'' (2004), [Susan Dooley]; below right, untitled (2004), [Ann Chwatsky].
