Overview
If you know [Debbie Stevens], such a conspicuous object isn't out of place. It's just the latest creation of this balloon artist extraordinaire. In fact, the lion - made from 20 balloons - is tame compared with some of Stevens' projects made in preparation for her trip to \"Twist and Shout,\" the annual balloon twisters convention in Cerritos, Calif. We're talking four-metre-long dragons, 2.5-metre-high gorillas, tigers, giraffes, even a three-metre Santa Claus. It's easy to see why. Stevens' creations aren't your ordinary balloon dogs. Ask her to make you a dog and what you'll get bears a striking resemblance to Disney's Goofy, made with about 10 balloons, complete with wagging tail and tongue. \"It's really kept us close as a family,\" says Stevens, adding that the key to success is keeping shows kid-focused. \"We don't just give a kid a balloon. We make it an experience. It's a lot of fun, and we make sure the kids are having fun. That's what it's all about.\"
