Overview
Dean spoke about the fundamental changes between young voters today and those of his generation, those who were active in the civil rights movement, the women's movement, immigration quota changes and shifts in other social programming. During his tenure, he signed the nation's first civil unions into law, protecting the legal rights of gay and lesbian couples.
