Overview
\"We started practices at the Easter break where kids were coming in and logging miles. We were getting a heads up starting earlier than most schools where some entries didn't come in for (training) for divisionals until the week before. That makes a big difference,\" said [Aaron Edlund]. \"My motivation last year was to keep the basketball kids going without over killing them with basketball where it was my way of sneaking it in and then they ended up being so good at it that it was more of my focus this year. I don't know why the kids are so excited about it, maybe they're just buying what I'm selling,\" continued Edlund with a chuckle. Barnwell's Tom Johnson earned first place in 800, 1,500 and 3,000 metre events to go with a first in triple jump for bantam boys. Ryan Hansen earned a second in 400-metre. Trey Workman was first in the long jump and javelin and earned a second in discus. McKay Lepard was in first place for high jump and discus. Brody Jensen won first in shot-put. For midget boys, it was Barnwell's Josh Vanspronsen who was first for long jump and second for 200-metre. Jeff Doucette earned a first in 400-metre and a second in 3,000-metre. Brandon Karl won a foursome of firsts in 800, 1,500 and 3,000-metre events along with high jump. Kurtis Kriszan was first for javelin.
