Overview
If you answered \"A\" you would be correct, that is, if you were a contestant on Jeopardy last year. If you chose \"B\" then you would join a growing number of people from Connecticut who erroneously believe their park is the oldest. If \"C\" was your answer, then you'd find like-minds within Manhattan's Central Park. But if you choose \"D\" then you would be correct - although who would believe you? After all, it is a recently discovered historical fact. Whereas, [D. Wilkes-Barre] Borough's Town Council \"Act of Assembly,\" was passed on August 16, 1809 - establishing the River Common officially. The town council set it (the River Common) aside, \"as a public common to remain as such forever.\" Scott Spinucci was born in Wilkes-Barre and resides in downtown today. He's been an advocate for revitalizing Wilkes-Barre's Riverfront Parks since 1992. He is the director-producer of the forthcoming documentary: \"River Common - America's First Park.\" Spinucci is a graduate of Marywood University, MA; Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, BA and E.L. Meyers High School, Wilkes-Barre.
