Overview
Kirby Corporation is the nation's largest domestic tank barge operator, transporting bulk liquid products throughout the Mississippi River System, on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, and coastwise along all three US coasts. Its fleet, operated by subsidiary Kirby Inland Marine, consists of about 1,095 tank barges with a transportation capacity of approximately 24.2 million barrels, about 280 inland towboats, nearly 30 coastal tank barges, and about 25 coastal tugboats. The vessels are used to transport petrochemicals, black oil, refined petroleum products, and agricultural chemicals. Its coastal operations are conducted through wholly owned subsidiaries, Kirby Offshore Marine and Kirby Ocean Transport. Kirby also offers diesel engine repair and overhaul services, parts, and other services for marine, oilfield, and power generation customers and manufactures and remanufactures oilfield service equipment, among others.
