Overview
Mr. [W. E. Allison-Booth] had long been interested in Devil's Island. After two short visits while serving aboard the S. S. \"Surinam\" he became determined to scrape beneath the surface of things. On the next call he contrived to miss ship. It sailed without him, and the ex-sailor remained on the island of horrors. He made friends with the guards; with the convicts, and with the women, who were neither.
