Overview
Introduced in 1997, Biore Pore Perfect Strips, created such an instant reaction that they disappeared off drugstore shelves practically before they had been stocked. The fact that Biore strips do not really do anything is, of course, immaterial. The point is that they give you something disgusting to look at, and they are marketed in such a way that you do not feel disgusted with yourself for looking. Call it the grooming instinct. Split ends, ear wax, all the detritus formed by having a body is interesting, at least, to the person producing it.
