Overview
SYDNEY, April 3 AAP - Australians of different faiths were mourning the death of the Pope, with Muslim and Jewish leaders in Sydney expressing their sympathy today. Lebanese Muslim Association president Keysar Trad said it was with great sadness the Muslim community received news of the death of Pope John Paul II. In 1986, Pope John Paul II became the first Catholic pontiff to visit a Jewish place of worship when he attended the Synagogue of Rome, Mr [George Newhouse] said.
