Overview
A Queensland Liberal Party official last year claimed Liberal Senator George Brandis had once described Prime Minister John Howard as a lying rodent over the children overboard affair. Senator Brandis denied the allegation, but Islamic Friendship Association of Australia president Keysar Trad today said the government backbencher would face jail over the comments under the proposed new anti-terror laws. He told ABC television's Lateline program on Friday he sympathised with Victorian Liberal MP Petro Georgiou's calls for the measures to have proper safeguards built in.
