Overview
Commander is derived from Grand Cherokee. [Jeff Bell] said the decision not to offer a huge SUV and instead derive one off Grand Cherokee was a matter of economics. Commander will be offered in two-wheel-drive or a choice of three four-wheel-drive systems, with a choice of the engines now in Grand Cherokee: a 3.7-liter V-6, 4.7-liter V-8 and 5.7-liter Hemi V-8. Bell says Commander has a \"heritage design\" that borrows styling cues from the 1946-62 Willys Jeep station wagon, 1963-91 Wagoneer and 1984-2001 Cherokee, so it \"looks familiar and new at the same time.\"
