She said she's seen white moose before - stuffed specimens in Fort Nelson and Grande Prairie, Alta. - and wants to make sure the Fort St. John animal doesn't suffer the same fate. \"She's a special creature. They say it's a freak of nature, but she's incredibly rare and seems healthy enough.\" \"Old-timers say a long time ago that if you see a white moose you don't shoot them,\" said Tommy Attachie, a band elder. \"If you shoot the white moose, all around the area there will be no moose.\" \"Just because it looks cool doesn't mean it's a great service for the population,\" said the executive director of wildlife Conservation Society Canada, Justina Ray. \"You want to make sure . . . you're not bringing something inadvertently negative on a population.\"
