Overview
[Shawn Mathews] was thrown from his patrol vehicle about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday when the Dodge Durango struck a deer on Interstate 79 north near the Kingmont exit (milemarker 133), State Police Trooper E.M. Boyle said. When the Dodge hit the deer, Boyle said, it skidded into the median divider, then flipped and rolled, coming to rest on its roof. Mathews was thrown from the vehicle into the southbound lanes.
