Overview
Aileen Lee, of Alta Loma, describes [Larina Chavez] as patient with her students. Lee should know, as Chavez is teaching Lee's daughter Taylor six different types of dances. After Lee lost her 14-year-old son to bone cancer three years ago, she said that his death inspired Chavez. \"I've gone though trials and tribulations with Aileen and her family,\" Chavez said. \"They have inspired me to go places and work with people like her son.\" In addition to her upcoming efforts with the City of Hope, Chavez continues to help those close to home offering a special scholarship program to high school students. As students that have a passion for dancing and otherwise cannot afford it, Chavez provides them with an alternative payment plan.
