Overview
قليلون نسبيًا الذين يدركون أن نشأة الكويت تعود إلى الجزء الأخير من القرن السابع عشر، وأن حكم أسرة الصباح لها بدأ منذ 1752. وبغية تكريس هذه الحقائق من الناحية التاريخية، بدأ المؤلف أبحاثه حول تاريخ الكويت منذ ربع قرن من الزمان. ولقد تم توكيد معظم الحقائق التاريخية المتعلقة بالكويت في أوائل عهده بالبحث. ولعله تجدر الإشارة إلى أن هذا الكتاب يغطي حوالي قرنين ونصف القرن من تاريخ الكويت. أما القرنان الأوليان وهما الثامن عشر والتاسع عشر فإنهما يشكلان إلى حد ما الجزء الأقل معرفة والأندر توثيقا من ذلك التاريخ، بينما السنوات التي تلت عام 1900 وحتى يومنا هذا هي إما مدعمة تدعيما كاملا بالوثائق أو مدونة بإسهاب وتفصيل في مؤلفات القرن العشرين.
