يتناول هذا الكتاب دراسات سياسية متنوعة في تاريخ الكويت الحديث والمعاصر، تركز على الأحداث الهامة في تاريخ الكويت والتي كان لبعضها دور محوري في تحديد مسارها السياسي ولقد تعمق هذه الدراسات ببعض جوانب تاريخ الكويت السياسي، حيث خصصنا الباب الأول للحديث عن العلاقات الكويتية البريطانية ومراحل تطورها منذ 1775-1991 م، أما الباب الثاني فقد خصص للعلاقات الكويتية السعودية 1793-1991 م لما تمثله من مرحلة هامة شهدت بعض الأحداث التي كانت نقطة تحول مفصلية في تاريخ الكويت الحديث والمعاصر، أما الباب الثالث فقد خصص للعلاقات الكويتية العراقية 1932-1991 م التي شهدت حالة إحتقان إقليمي كان بداية لبعض الأحداث السياسية المتوترة بين البلدين، حيث شكلت قضايا الحدود المحور الأساسي للعلاقات بينهما.
