دراسة تحليلية تؤصل للحكاية الشعبية المصرية وامتدادها عبر التاريخ الفرعوني، وتأثيرها وتأثرها العربي والعالمي. ولأن الباحث معني بدراسة مجتمع البحث من حيث المكان والإنسان، فقد خصص فصلا كاملا في توصيف المكان ورسم ملامح الإنسان؛ وفصلا آخر حلل فيه النصوص، وتناول فيه تصنيف الحكاية واللهجة وتغيرها الدلالي من منطقة لأخرى، ومقاطع الشعر والجمل المنغمة في النصوص، وعلاقتهما بغيرها من فنون القول. واختتم الدراسة بالتطواف حول أهمية وأهداف وخصائص النصوص التي قام بجمعها بنفسه من محيط منطقة البحث. ثم اختتم هذا الجزء بخمسة أقسام من ملحق النصوص.
