يتناول كتاب (أول منزل) والذي قام بتأليفه (خالد الظنحاني) ويقع في حوالي (170) صفحة من القطع المتوسط، يحكي في عوالم متنوعة محطات حياته ومراحلها، عبر عدة مقالات تتناول مواضيع مختلفة ومتنوعة وتضيء على ما مر به من أحداث وتجارب، ذلك بدءا من طفولته ومن ثم في مراحله العمرية الأخرى اللاحقة. حيث حنين الشاعر إلى الأيام الماضية وعيشه في كنف والديه وارتباطه بمزرعة والده في مدينة دبا الفجيرة وكذا اهتمامه بالزراعة وخاصة زراعة النخيل. كما يحكي الشاعر عن البساطة التي كانت تتسم بها الحياة حينذاك وعن بساطة الناس ونقائهم ويتحدث أيضا عن زيارته إلى المدينة المنورة في المملكة العربية السعودية وعن شعوره وغبطته لأهلها ومشاعره الروحانية التي اعترته حين زارها وكتب أيضا عن انبهاره بثقافة الشعب الألماني إثر مشاركاته في إحدى الندوات الثقافية التي نظمت هناك.
