تعد جماعة التبليغ والدعوة واحدة من أكبر وإن لم تكن كبرى الجماعات الدعوية الإسلامية في العالم وهي أبرز نماذج ما يمكن أن يسمى جماعات أو حركات الدعوة الإسلامية، في مقابل ما يمكن أن يدعى حركات الدولة، حيث تهدف بشكل رئيس لدعوة الناس، أكثر من تركيزها على تغيير الأنظمة وإقامة الدولة الإسلامية. كانت نشأة الجماعة هي الأسبق بين الحركات الإسلامية الأخرى ومنذ منتصف الأربعينيات من القرن الماضي توجهت هذه الجماعة للعالم الإسلامي والخروج بجماعاتها في مختلف أنحاء العالم الإسلامي، تدعو الناس غير منشغلة بالسياسة ولا بالقتال وفي هذا الكتاب يوضح نشأتها ومنهجها وسياقها ونشاطاتها من الهند وباكستان إلى مصر والمغرب إلى الخليج.
