تناول كتاب (الإشارة إلى محاسن التجارة) والذي قام بتأليفه \"أبو الفضل جعفر الدمشقي\" الإشارة إلى محاسن التجارة بذكر حقيقة المال حيث بين أنه القليل والكثير من المقتنيات، حيث ينقسم الكتاب إلى أربعة أقسام : وهي الصامت الذي هو الدراهم والدنانير والعرض (العروض) والعقار والحيوان، ثم انتهى بفصل يتناول موضوع المال الناطق من حيث تقسيمه إلى ثلاثة أقسام : الرقيق والكراع والماشية كما أنه بين وجوها من حاجة الناس إليه.
